Probably the dumbest Biology question you'll EVER hear..?

Okay so I'm taking Biology. Freshman in highschool. I've recently and in the past learned about Meiosis and Mitosis. But ya know what.. I REALLY DON'T GET IT... Okay so don't all cells go through Mitosis? Sense its cell division and stuff... Why do you get only daughter cells? How would you make male cells thenn? Or do the daughter cells create male cells? I know that in Meiosis you can get male cells from X and Y chromosomes and stuff but you know this is a stupid question. I just don't get this and I need a very detailed explanation :(:(:( I feel stupid.
